Celebrating 50 Years of Advocacy and Staying Connected

The History and Visioning Project celebrates the people and partnerships that have driven disability advocacy in Washington over the past 50 years. Through their stories, leadership, and shared vision, the disability community has shaped lasting change—and the Washington State Developmental Disabilities Council has been honored to be part of that journey.

This project is more than a look back; it’s a foundation for what comes next. The Council is creating new ways for the disability community—including past and present members, partners, advocates, and allies—to stay connected, share their experiences, and help shape the Council’s future direction. We invite you to stay connected with the Council and continue being part of this story. Explore ways to stay involved, get updates, and join us in shaping the future of disability advocacy in Washington.

If you’re a former Council member, we’re building a contact list to help us stay in touch going forward and to continue building on the History and Visioning project. Please fill out our short form to share your information and stay connected with upcoming activities.
