The Arc of King County educates people about the systems and services that people with disabilities rely on and helps individuals and families get the support they need across the lifespan. When those systems aren’t working, they advocate to make them better. Through information and family support, as well as public policy and civic engagement, they work to improve health, education, and human services so everyone can thrive.
They provide 1:1 information and referral, support groups, classes, and educational materials, plus Supported Living community residential services. Staff help (or refer) on any issue—most commonly care services, special education, and housing—and can coordinate across systems. Their system support services and online resource guide are available in English and Spanish. The information and family support program helps people identify needs and secure resources (“we listen, empower, and connect”), and the public policy program offers education on emerging issues, civil rights, and the legislative process while helping people engage in policymaking.
