House Bill 2078 Work Group Begins

The Washington State Developmental Disabilities Council and the Washington State Association of Sherrifs and Police Chiefs are working jointly to address the issues related to persons with developmental disabilities who are in jails and correctional facilities. This work group, established under House Bill 2078, is responsible for making recommendations to the legislature. Informing Families Building Trust Re-design Unveiled
On July 14 the Council officially launmched the new Informing Families website. The new website features many new enhancements, including online access to Informing Families videos, links to news stories, an event calendar and more. See what we've been up to by going to www.informingfamilies.org.

DDD Releases County Employment Program Report to the Legislature
The Division of Developmental Disabilities has released its November 1, 2008 report ot he legislature on County Employment Programs. The report details it's proposed policies around employment. The report is available at DDD's website.

Aging Task Force Report Released
The Aging with Developmental Disabilities Task Force has released a report on its findings. Their Aging with Developmental Disabilities Report highlights features their recommendations for addressing this important and timely issue. Council Releases New Core Indicator Reports
The Council has completed work on two Core Indicator Review Panel reports. The panels reviewed quality assurance data about services and supports people receive from the Division of Developmental Disabilities. Their findings encompass what they saw in the data and what recommendations they have for positive change. The Face to Face Survey Panel Report reviews the results of face-to-face interviews of adults on DDD waivers. The Child Family Survey Report covers the responses of families whose children received a t least one service through the Division of Developmental Disabilities.

 

Did You Know?


There are up to 108,062 individuals with developmental disabilities in Washington state. Of these, over 37,000 have been determined eligible for DDD services.

More than one-third (12,300) of those currently eligible receive no DDD services.
